G for Ganges: ABC Wednesday Round 6

G for Ganges, yes one of the holiest (and like many others dirtiest) rivers of the world. This is actually a tributary of that river which is know as Bhagirathi. It flows through the State of Uttrakhand beyond converging into the great river. This picture was taken in June 2007 when we (me and my friends) went to Rishikesh (a city in Uttrakhand) for Camping and White water rafting. One of the most enjoyable trips of the life. We were camping in the banks of this river and it was an awesome experience to actually feel the river. It was just like being back to the cradle of the mother.

Date of Picture: June 14, 2007
Place: 20 Kms above Rishikesh, Uttrakhand, India
Camera: Kodak CX6200

Terrific G post for the day. I too, think water has a very soothing effect and I love living so close to it here in Seattle. Have a great evening!

There is such power in a large body of water. The river that passes by our house, though very much smaller, has the same colour as your picture, after recent storms.

I think the river is always clean at its source, as everything and every creature is clean in the beginning of its life. The Ganges is an impressive river!
Thanks for your visit!

I'm late checking blogs of commentators on my sithenah photoblog but am here now - love the photo of the mighty Ganges - never seen it but well heard of - your photo evokes its mightiness.
